Happy New Year!!!!!

30-12-11

An amazing Christmas has passed us by. We were lucky enough for all the Davidson’s (less Clare) to come and visit. Trevor our Turkey behaved really well and we were pretty chuffed with the Christmas dinner we managed to get to the table. Martin and Lou were over from Singapore and we spent two meal times with them… Christmas Eve and last night. It was so lovely to catch up again and even better knowing they’re back in the UK for Jon and Jess’ wedding in May.

The children have loved everything Christmassy… from the chocolate advent calendars, pantomime and Christmas plays to putting out food for the reindeer and a fine malt whisky for Santa. Needless to say they had been good enough for Father Christmas to come and visit and they loved opening presents.

Since our last update Elsie is confidently sitting up and now more than often rocks on all fours before launching into her commando crawl! She’s pretty fast at getting where she wants to, but spends most of her life getting within millimetres of the object she has focussed on, only to have it taken away due to the unsuitable nature of said object for a 7 month old.

Callum has spent almost every minute since Christmas day holding his Lighting McQueen car and Mater tow truck (characters from Cars) that Elsie and Bethany gave him. He has got quite a foot stamp going on at the moment and quite often responds to my requests with ‘NO Mum… this is the deal …… you see that’s the deal!!!!’ It’s quite a change from the quiet, gentle and shy boy I sent to preschool. He’s really enjoyed his first term and has started meeting quite a few friends.

Bethany was certainly ready for a break at the end of term and actually missed her last day due to illness. She loves school and can’t wait to get back… long may that continue. The exciting news in our house this evening (Fri 30th) is that Bethany lost her first tooth! I can’t believe how grown up she is.

I’m unlikely to post again this year so, Happy new year to all of you and best wishes for 2012.

Well I never got around to posting…sorry. Within two days of being back at school Bethany lost another tooth (2 in a week). Ironically Elsie cut her first two teeth during the week as well. That meant we had a tiring start to the year!!!! In the last couple of weeks Elsie has properly mastered the on all fours speedy crawl. She is chattering lots and eating everything in site (food and toys!)

I now can’t believe we’re in February! January was a fun month with several yummy meals out and most amazingly for Mark and I …. A kiddie free wedding anniversary celebration! Mark’s Mum and Dad kindly looked after the children for 3 nights / 5 days whilst Mark and I, along with Anne, Chris, Sian, Mark and Amy headed to the ski slopes in France. My first snowboarding trip since finding out we were pregnant with Bethany!!! It was an amazing long weekend. The conditions were unbelievably good, with record levels of snow in the resort on night one, followed by clear blue skies on day 4! Finishing each day with cake, beer and a soak in the hot tub, made the trip a really tough experience!! It was great to get back and see the kids, but we’re already wondering if we’ll be able to go again next year!!!!!

I will try and update a little sooner next time and hope to post some pictures as well.
