December, Jan, Feb and March!
I know, I know…it’s been ages. I’d like to say that the computer’s been broken or that I’ve been jetting around the world and couldn’t get to a PC, but reality is that I have two children!
Life has been treating us really well, especially since Callum has started on solids and is now on formula… we have been known to get the odd complete nights sleep!
As you probably know by now the blog is my diary of what’s happened with the children’s development so I have lots of things to write, but key dates for me are:
Dec 13th Callum rolled from front to back
Dec 15th Callum had his first bit of carrot… he wasn’t particularly impressed so we didn’t push the solids at this stage. We then started again early Jan and got the response we had expected… a lunge towards the spoon with his mouth open and definite signs of frustration when the delivery isn’t speedy enough!
Dec 18th Bethany counted from 1-6 and 8,9,10 but struggles with 7! (This is still the case now!)
Jan 13th Callum went in the door bouncer and absolutely loved it
Jan 27th Callum finally took a bottle; after three sleepless nights he cracked it. Watching him drink now you wouldn’t believe that he ever struggled with it.
Feb 2nd Callum sat unassisted for the first time. He loved this new vantage point and shows signs of being every bit as dexterous as his sister in the way that he plays with his toys. Within 10 days Callum was sitting very comfortably
Feb 13th Callum showed real recognition of Mark and also held the bottle himself and put it in his mouth. He has become very vocal and there were lots of cooing and screeching noises to be made.
Feb 23rd Mummy started taking Callum to a music class which he appeared to love and Mummy enjoyed having some one to one time with Callum.
Mar 4th Bethany got her first Duckling swimming award. Mummy was very proud. Her confidence in the water is somewhat daunting at times as she tries to swim width after width with her head under the water!
As you can see there is no mention of Callum’s teeth coming through, despite all the signs of teething being visible for about 2 months now. About 5 of his teeth are visibly sat in his gums but seem reluctant to break through.
Unfortunately Bethany seems to have regressed somewhat with the potty training so we have gone back to pull up nappies. She still makes it to the toilet 90% of the time, but when she’s tired or engrossed in play she just forgets! It is interesting how much tiredness effects her – her speech is much clearer in the morning when she isn’t tired and has had the night to process all her new words! Watching her speech develop and the way she grasps new concepts is amazing… for a long time anything in the past was ‘yest’day’ now she is beginning to use days of the week. Bethany can now perform renditions of quite a few nursery rhymes, she is very tuneful.
Well that’s the kiddiwink’s achievements… if you still have any desire to read here’s an update on what Family Davidson have been up to for the last 3 months
December was a busy month for us with an ‘alternative Christmas’ celebration up in Scotland at the beginning of the month. It was fantastic that everyone made it to Tweedsie for full Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrations… These celebrations were made all the better by Helen and James’ fab news that they are expecting a baby at the end of July:-)
After the alternative Christmas we headed back down to Reading in time to celebrate Mark’s birthday with a night out, then we had some Christmas drinks for some of our friends in Reading and Jen got to catch up with Sarah (visiting from Oz), Amy and Em which was lovely.
Actual Christmas was spent in Fairford. Dad, Martin, Mark, Bethany, Callum and I all went to Carols Round the Crib which was slightly stressful. Bethany saw the doll (to be used as baby Jesus in the nativity) and then spent the whole service trying to escape from Mummy and Daddy so that she could play with the ‘baby’!
On Boxing Day we went over to Swindon and went for a lovely walk down to the park, which was fun for everyone as we tried to work out how to walk around a very strange roundabout type toy.
Looking forward to a couple of days back in Reading before heading to Worcester for new year it was really disappointing when Mark got ill, closely followed by Callum and Bethany. This put an end to most of our activities for January.
February came and went with all of us heading back to Fairford for Callum’s christening on Feb 15th. It was a great day with lots of our friends and family joining us for the service and a cheese and wine lunch afterwards.
We also went into London to meet Hanne and Cian. Bethany was very excited to go on a ‘choo choo train, upstairs on a bus and in a taxi’.
As you can appreciate there are lots and lots and lots of photos from the last 3 months so I’m going to sort some out this weekend and post then
